Hide your children! Leave no limb unattended! Run for your lives! It's Cyclops Stomach-Mouth Monster! And he's....well. actually pretty cuddly, don't you think?
This little guy is the newest addition to the series of monster stuffies I've been stitching in my off hours. My darling, good-intentioned husband (who sketched the original pattern for Mr. Cyclops) wants me to do a few "theme" collections. His suggestions? The Seven Deadly Sins Monsters, The Donnie and Marie Osmond Monsters, and lastly, Frightening Figures of the Bush Administration Monsters. I tried to tell him that we don't actually want to scare the children. Also, that many polyesters would have to die in the making of a single Marie Osmond monster. And I don't want that hanging over my head.
These were supposed to be belated Christmas presents for all my favorite kidlets. Since my sewing machine is now possessed by evil spirits, they might just turn into Easter presents. I could always say that the stuffies were inspired by the darkness in the heart of Pilot's Wife, but that would likely, not go over well with parents.
The best part about this squishy fellow is the fabric on the opposite side (not shown), which looks like tiny cupcakes. The number-fabric you see here will be used on a monster-ette for Maddy. I think the cyclops will go to her little brother. Before I give him away though, he needs a name. Any suggestions?
All love and monster naming,
