Surviving February.

Bedroom
it comes and goes.

For the sake of argument, I'm going to disagree with T.S. Eliot here, and say that February is the cruelest month. The brief flashes of sunlight are enough to break your heart. The question on the lips of the populace is of course, when, for heaven's sake, will the downpour end, but I will not willingly give myself over to the longing for spring. Not yet. If I did I would go insane. But as soon as the sun settles in for an entire day, or the first bud appears on a tree or a weed or whatever, rest assured, I will be the one running down the sidewalk, happily loosing my sh#$, rejoicing. Enough said.  My feet are lighter today than they were yesterday, and I loved reading your responses to Wild Geese. We are all, at some point, complicit in this feeling. And so I am utterly removing the pressure from the weekend ahead. Perhaps too much has been planned, a baby dedication/celebration, a trip to Uwajimaya (and Kinokuniya!), a much needed haircut, a trip to the woods, sewing time, the answering of a thousand emails, but no matter. I will do what I can, and enjoy the rest. And bring lots of wine.

Happy Friday, friends.

All love,

Everyone else is wiggly for spring, and I'm catching that buzz too... looking back at photos from when things were in full force bud and being outdoors. Of course, my husband and I just started looking into cross country skiing, something I have never done before, so I need the snow to linger a little while longer. :)

I love that image, by the way. Wonderful.

i've not been to kinokuniya for ages and ages, and it's been even longer since i've left there with a book under my arm-- so i'm jealous! and happy for you.

we've had early spring like weather here. 70's. sunshine. actually, we haven't had much of a winter or much rain so that is what i am wishing for. so funny how we always want the opposite of what we have. hope your weekend is lovely. sounds great. xox

It's funny that you should start your post arguing with Eliot, seeing as I took issue with the same line 4 wks ago in January! You're right, the wait for spring does make one antsy. Although I guess I prefer the hints of sunshine to none at all!

happy weekend to you.
woke up to an amazing sunny day today.
i wish i could send you a piece of it...
xo

I stumbled across your blog while searching the interweb for tip to make my scones rise higher. I am thrilled to be able to listen in on your thoughts. Thank you.

  • I'm Andrea. I like to make things. I like plaid and collecting curiosities to put under bell jars. I love books. Also, mockingbirds, bikes with baskets, textiles, cupcakes, and whiskey. Mostly, I run around making no sense.
