Nesting.

nesting

I thought I'd show you a little sneak peek of the living room today. Because I have finally accepted the fact that house will not be 'done' in my mind until, oh, I don't know, February. Or 2015. Or something.  Now that the walls are painted, the furniture is arranged, and there aren't massive piles of empty boxes lying around (except for maybe one, hidden beside the couch), I gave my inner perfectionist the boot, and started snapping away. I probably should've fluffed the pillows. Or moved the newspaper. Or hung some art. Or. Um. I'll stop now.

Also, it was overcast enough this week to get a decent shot. Weird how inclement weather is so conducive to indoor photography. It almost feels like fall. A little teaser. I cannot wrap my mind around this city and its weather-y mood swings. Last week it was in the triple digits (Fahrenheit), and people who could afford it were checking themselves into motels. Restaurants were closing, and sleep was miserable. And then suddenly, it was cold. And rainy. And 62 degrees.

And I am happy. Yes, happy. Because you all know how I feel about Autumn. I live for it, every year. The squirrels have started nesting. I am anxiously awaiting October, and watching the maples for changes. And Aaron is taking a few days off between jobs, making soups and chilly weather foods, and looking ahead. We are both looking ahead. I cannot wait.

Happy Thursday.

All love,
*Andrea

andrea, you fill me with such excitement for fall! when - generally speaking - i'm busy lamenting the end of summer. and your living room looks fantastic! beautiful furnishings and lovely light and just a wonderful place in which to live.

love your living room. maples are changing here. the young ones, at least. i'll show you tomorrow. so glad that you are happy friend. xo

I love the nesting experience too. Fall is such a great time. It's August and I'm knitting a wooly, tweedy vest for school. I just can't help it.

It looks beautiful. Fall is the perfect time to make a house a home.

I have that same "keep calm" picture, in yellow. I love it.

how adorable is your place?? you'll show us again when the art is hung, yes?????

so happy for you!!

Wow. You two must be thrilled. Your home looks bee-you-ti-ful! Enjoy the lovely space you two have. And the upcoming season... I love it, too. Okay, I'm back to my computer-free break now.

It's so lovely. And so you! And kinda making me a little jealous that you have a beautiful room with not a single juice stain or forgotten toy on the floor. (My day will come... in about 17 years!)

Your post made me happy. You're so infectious... in a good way. :)

oh, i feel exactly the same way about autumn!!! my absolute favorite!!!

your living room looks fabulous!

Whatever. It's super gorgeous - no dorm room-esqu living for you! I'm with Lisa, can't wait to see it with your art up!

Bravo my sweet!! Talking about cooler weather, the changing of leaves and not one solitary word about plaid!!! I know it's coming... The house looks amazing and from the little I actually know about you except for what we've shared here, in blogworld, it looks very you! Can't wait to see more!!

wow, it's beautiful! i'm jealous.

I was so one of those people in one of those hotels.

Now I'm trying to buy Portland weather clothing. I'm so unprepared for fall.

i love your house! it definitely took us well over a year before all the cardboard boxes were gone. and we only have an apartment! fall, yes. i'm all about it.

your living room looks comfy! I wish I had a larger couch – I'm settling for a smallish Ikea one right now.

I really like your living room!

  • I'm Andrea. I like to make things. I like plaid and collecting curiosities to put under bell jars. I love books. Also, mockingbirds, bikes with baskets, textiles, cupcakes, and whiskey. Mostly, I run around making no sense.
