Ah February. The month of love. The month of whiskey. A little of both are required to make it through this thing. You know what is also required to make it through the month of February? HANDCLAPS. That's right. Songs featuring hand-claps are somewhat sacred in this house, so in an effort to call a preemptive strike on February, may I present to you the first Scout mix tape ever. Especially designed for kicking the February darkness and self-loathing to the curb. I dare you to watch this and not smile. Now get clapping.

Ooh, what a terrific playlist! Life looks sunnier already. The jaunty claps in The Beatles' "I Want to Hold Your Hand" are good at chasing away the grey-sky blues, too.

Trying hard to think of a month that isn't a whiskey month...

What a fun post. The perfect answer to the February blahs. I'd like to add a song but I think it's finger-snapping and not hand-clapping. Does that count?

You inspired me to search because I knew there were tons of hand clap songs that I love! But hands down:
#1 Papa was a rolling stone (Sure, it's not the most upbeat song, but syncopated hand claps are even teh bestest, even if you have to wait a long time to hear them!)

That video was the cutest thing I've seen in the whole generally sucky day I'm having. So thank you -- it was adorable.

I just found your blog..somehow. and I love it! Particularly your refusal to whine about the weather, and your socks, and dogs with issues. I have my first issue free dog (mostly) and I just can't get over how great he is. My children want another one, but I keep telling them that any other dog is going to look really bad when compared to otto, and it would be unkind to do that to another dog--who probably isn't that bad.

Hello! I just stumbled across you and thought I'd better weigh in on the hand-clapping - "Soir de Fete" by Yann Tiersen is an interesting one because the clapping doesn't quite match the rhythm of the instruments. I always think of "Gobbledigook" by Sigur Ros as a hand-clapping song, but I couldn't swear that those were definitely hand-claps and not percussion of some sort when I went back to listen to it.

...all that's coming to mind are children's nursery rhymes and the hand-clapping versions I've heard over the years. Could be the toddler sitting at my feet, slurping the pacifier and generally making a mess while claiming to find giraffes.
I don't think I can break out of baby mode until 8 p.m. at which time I hope to play your playlist and dance around my living room... :)
